Calendered vinyl with lamination is the material we recommend for most decals that will live outside. This 3 mil vinyl is finished with your choice of glossy or matte lamination, and that protective layer sits on top of the printed ink to block a large share of the UV exposure that causes color breakdown, while also resisting scratches and moisture. For maximum outdoor lifespan, especially on vehicles, high performance cast vinyl and 3M Controltac vinyl both last up to 8 years when properly applied and maintained, and both conform easily to curved surfaces. 

What sizes can I order for car, window, or equipment decals?

Sizing is flexible and depends on the material and where you're applying it. Calendered vinyl prints from 2" x 2" up to 52" x 120", and cast vinyl and 3M Controltac go up to 50" x 120". Small logo decals for laptops or helmets, mid-size window decals for storefronts, and large-format vehicle decals for cars and equipment are all available as custom shapes. 

Can I upload my own artwork, or do I need a template?

You can upload your own artwork directly, and we also offer layout help if you're starting from scratch. Vector files (EPS or PDF with fonts converted to outlines) print the cleanest, but high-resolution raster images work too. Our artwork guidelines walk through preferred file types, resolution requirements, and prep tips before you place an order, and our in-house designers can vectorize most logos for a small fee if your file needs work. 

How much do outdoor vinyl decals cost, and is there a discount for larger orders?

Pricing scales with size, quantity, and finish. Single decals and small runs are priced individually, and larger orders move into tiered bulk pricing, which lowers the per-unit cost significantly. There's no minimum beyond one unit, so it works whether you need one decal for your own car or hundreds of fleet decals for a company vehicle program. For high quantities or unusual specs, requesting a quote is the fastest way to get exact bulk pricing. 

How fast will my decals arrive after I order?

Production ranges from 1 to 5 business days depending on the turnaround option you choose, with 3 business days as the standard. Once produced, orders ship via UPS Ground by default and arrive within 2 to 4 business days to 90% of the United States, with faster shipping speeds available at checkout. How do I apply and remove decals without damaging the surface underneath?

Application is straightforward with a clean, dry surface and a squeegee to avoid air bubbles. Die-cut decals peel and stick as a single piece, while transfer decals use transfer tape to place multi-piece designs cleanly and evenly. When properly installed and removed, our vinyl materials will not damage vehicle paint, and our low tack option is rated to remove cleanly for up to a year after installation. 

How should I care for decals once they're applied outdoors?

Regular washing with mild soap and water, avoiding high-pressure sprays directly on the edges, and keeping the decal out of prolonged contact with harsh solvents will extend its life. These simple care habits protect the laminate layer, and the laminate is what protects the ink, so gentle cleaning makes a real difference in how long the color and adhesion hold up.

Unlaminated decals or lower-grade vinyl can start visibly fading within months in intense sun, which is why we laminate our printed outdoor materials by default. 

How do you keep vinyl decals from fading in the sun?

Choose a laminated vinyl material, since the laminate layer is what actually blocks UV radiation before it reaches the printed ink. Beyond material choice, position the decal away from constant direct sun when possible, keep it clean with mild soap and water, and avoid parking or displaying it in a way that maximizes midday sun exposure. Reapplying a separate UV sealer spray on top of an already-laminated decal isn't necessary and can sometimes cause cloudiness, so it's better to choose the right laminated material upfront. 

Are laminated decals worth the extra cost for outdoor use?

Yes. For any decal facing more than a few weeks of direct sun, lamination typically extends usable life from a matter of months to multiple years, which makes it the highest-return upgrade on an outdoor order. The laminate also adds scratch and moisture resistance, so the decal survives car washes, rain, and everyday handling that would wear down an unprotected print.
