Types of Labels

The beauty about labels is that they can have a variety of purposes—and we mean it. From warning labels to garden labels, we carry labels in several formats and uses to match different application needs and production styles.

  • Both Roll labels & Label Sheets are ideal for larger quantities and easy machine or hand application (think thank you cards, logos on your coffee shop’s iced cups, and more).
  • Clear Cut Labels: Transparent labels are a clean and simple way to provide information like vehicle maintenance reminders or labeling your lunch Tupperware in the communal office fridge.
  • Bottle Labels: Waterproof vinyl labels help elevate your microbrewery or add a personalized touch to a graduation gift!

Industry Use Cases

Decals.com custom labels are widely used across multiple industries to support branding and product presentation. It’s because they're an easy and durable way to communicate product details while reinforcing brand identity in competitive markets. Customers have used custom labels for:

Material Options

Choosing the right material helps ensure your labels perform well in their intended environment. These options allow businesses to match label performance with product conditions, from dry packaging to moisture-prone environments. Explore material options, such as:

Paper labels: A cost-effective option for indoor product use

Vinyl labels: Durable and flexible for longer-lasting applications

Waterproof labels: Designed to resist moisture and maintain print quality

How to Order Labels

Ordering custom labels is a straightforward process designed to move from concept to production efficiently.

Start by selecting your label type, size, and quantity. Next, create your design using the online editor or upload a print-ready file such as .EPS or high-resolution artwork. After checkout, a proof is provided (if requested) for approval when selected, ensuring the final design meets expectations before production begins. Once approved, your labels are produced and shipped according to your selected timeline.

Using AI-Generated Images for Your Custom Labels

AI image generators are a fast way to get creative ideas, but they're not built for print production, and labels tend to be one of the tougher products for this. Most labels are held, read, and examined up close — on a bottle, jar, or package — which leaves very little room for a low-resolution image to hide.

What to know before you upload an AI-generated image:

  • Labels are viewed up close. Unlike a banner or sign seen from a distance, a label is meant to be picked up and read, so any blur or pixelation in an AI-generated image is much more noticeable.
  • Text-heavy labels are the riskiest. Ingredient lists, warning labels, and other text-heavy designs need crisp, legible type. AI-generated images often render text as distorted or unreadable, and that's not something we can fix on our end.
  • Smaller labels leave less room for error. The smaller the label, the less resolution an AI-generated image has to work with once it's scaled to fit — fine details and small text break down fastest.
  • Die-cut and custom-shaped labels need vector art. If your label requires a precise cut line around the shape of your design, vector artwork (EPS, PDF) is required — an AI-generated raster image isn't compatible with this process.
AI Artwork Check: zoom into your image at 100% on your screen before uploading. If any text is already hard to read or looks distorted at that size, it will be even harder to read once printed at label size.
Not sure if your file will hold up? Upload it during checkout or send it to our team — we'll check the resolution against your chosen size and let you know before anything goes into production.
