What is the difference between clear and white mirror clings and which one should I choose?
The only physical difference between the two is the color of the material. One is transparent and the other is white. However, the intended use for each material is what makes them very different.
Clear mirror clings offer the advantage of being see-through in areas where ink is not present. Because of this unique feature, they are commonly used on storefronts or other retail locations to advertise your promotion, sale, or products while still allowing your customers to see the product or store behind the mirror cling.
White mirror clings are more commonly used when you intend to use full-color artwork throughout the entire design of the mirror cling. These mirror clings are great for promoting sales, products, or business hours while blocking the view inside the mirror or outside the window.
When I select the clear vinyl option, how do I know where it will be clear?
Your cling will show clear on any area(s) your graphic isn’t showing. So the portion of your graphic that will remain clear largely depends on what you are printing. If you are designing a clear mirror cling in our online designer, it is recommended to also let us know specifically where you are wanting your cling to appear transparent in the order notes, as this will help clear up any confusion our graphic designers may have when processing your order.
As with all our products, your order will not be processed until you have approved your artwork and paid for your product.
If you are uploading your own design, we recommend a PNG file for this particular product, as no background will be visible in your file. If you do upload a jpeg file or any other file with a background, we recommend you leave instructions in your order notes. This can help clear up any confusion for our graphic designers when processing your orders.
*PLEASE NOTE*
Your order will not go into production until you approve your free artwork proof and have paid for your custom mirror clings. If you select ‘Approved as shown, please send to production’ and proceed to pay for your order, we will assume everything on your order is correct and Decals.com will not assume responsibility for any printing errors in regards to artwork. For more information on our production and returns policy, please visit our policies page.
When should I use a mirror cling instead of a clear decal?
The biggest difference between the two products is the adhesive strength and the intended use. If you are looking for a temporary decal option, we suggest you order our mirror cling product. This is due to the low-tack adhesive placed on the cling, allowing you easier removal and repositioning of the decal.
If you are looking for a more permanent option when it comes to your clear decal, we suggest choosing our clear decal product. This is due to the stronger adhesive that is placed on the decal material itself.
How small or large can my mirror cling be?
Our mirror clings can be printed as small as 2”x2” and as large as 52”x120”. You can also create larger displays by combining multiple decal panels together. Please contact us if you need an extra large cling and we will guide you through the process.
What is the lifespan of your clings?
Our mirror clings have a 3+ year lifespan when properly installed and cared for.
Are custom mirror clings easily removable or repositionable?
Yes, mirror clings use a low-tack adhesive technology that allows you to apply, remove, and reposition your decal multiple times. This makes this the ideal option for temporary mirror decals for your business.
Will mirror clings ruin my mirror or any other surface I place them on?
No, as long as you apply and remove your mirror cling properly, you should not see any damage to your mirror or whatever surface you place your clear decal on. If you do end up with some sticky residue left behind, we recommend using a light cleaning solution to remove it.
What are some common uses for mirror clings?
Mirror clings are commonly used by businesses for sales promotions, or to display store hours and business information. They are the ideal mirror signage option if you are looking for a temporary or repositionable graphic.
What surfaces can custom mirror clings be placed on?
Our custom mirror clings can be placed on any indoor or outdoor smooth, non-porous surface such as glass, stainless steel, aluminum, and plastic.
Can mirror clings be used outdoors?
Yes, because we print our clings with UV-resistant ink and then place a laminate over the top, your decals will be able to withstand harsh outdoor weather conditions. This laminate helps to protect your mirror clings from UV light, moisture, and scratches.
