Why Custom Car Magnets Are a Practical Choice
A car magnet solves a specific problem: you want your vehicle to display branding, a message, or a design, but you do not want to commit to a
permanent decal. Magnetic decals attach firmly to any flat steel or iron surface and lift off cleanly without leaving residue. That makes them ideal for small business owners who use personal vehicles for work, real estate agents, contractors, food delivery drivers, and anyone running a temporary campaign.
Unlike
vinyl decals that bond to the paint, car magnets can be moved from vehicle to vehicle. If you rotate between a work truck and a personal car, one set of magnets covers both. If you hand off fleet vehicles to different drivers, magnets with individual driver or route information can be swapped out in seconds.
For events, sports teams, and promotional campaigns, custom car door magnets let you put a professional look on a vehicle for a specific occasion and return the car to its normal appearance afterward. That flexibility is why magnets continue to be one of the most practical custom vehicle products available.
Design Tips for Large Car Magnets and Door Panels
Size matters more than most people expect. A custom car door magnet that measures 12x18 inches or larger reads clearly from across a parking lot. Smaller magnets are better suited to bumpers. Before you finalize your artwork, think about where the magnet will sit and how far away your audience will be when they see it.
Keep the design bold and simple. High-contrast color combinations, large fonts, and a single clear focal point (your logo, phone number, or web address) outperform busy layouts every time. Leave some margin around your content so the design does not appear to run off the edge of the magnet.
For file setup, submit artwork at 300 DPI at the final print size. Vector files (PDF, AI, EPS) scale perfectly and are the preferred format for text-heavy designs. If you are working from a photograph or a raster file, make sure the resolution is high enough at the actual magnet dimensions. Check out our
artwork specifications for more information.
Our team reviews every file before production. If there is a resolution issue or a color profile concern, we will flag it before printing rather than after.
Caring for Your Magnetic Decals
Car magnets last longest when you follow a few basic habits. Remove them before automatic car washes, since high-pressure water and brushes can catch an edge and damage or dislodge the magnet. Hand washing is fine with the magnets in place as long as you avoid abrasive materials.
Store flat magnets in a cool, dry place when they are off the vehicle. Rolling or folding a magnet can crease the material and weaken its holding strength. If you stack magnets for storage, place a piece of paper between them to prevent the faces from scratching.
Clean the vehicle surface before applying the magnet. Wax, road grime, and residue reduce magnetic contact and can allow moisture to collect underneath. A quick wipe with a clean cloth is usually all it takes.
Periodically lift the magnet and clean both the back surface and the vehicle panel underneath. This prevents rust or moisture buildup, particularly in regions with heavy road salt use during winter months.
